7th Annual Cabernet Sleigh Benefitting Metropolitan Ministries

The holiday season can be the most memorable time of people’s lives, filled with fun memories, yummy food, gifting items to the ones you love, and all the fun chaos in between! It’s a time to be grateful and spend quality time with your loved ones! The holidays can also be incredibly stressful and challenging for those struggling financially and emotionally or going through a significant life change. That’s where the amazing non-profit Metropolitan Ministries steps in!

Every year, our company collects non-perishable food & toy items for our annual “Cabernet Sleigh”. This event benefits a fantastic foundation called Metropolitan Ministries, if you’re in the Tampa Bay area, you may already know who they are. If you don’t, you should! Metropolitan Ministries is a non-profit organization that provides food, shelter, resources, counseling, education, and job training services to low-income and homeless families. Their approach alleviates the suffering while promoting dignity and instilling self-sufficiency in those who need it most in Tampa Bay. They truly are a one-of-a-kind foundation!

“One of our company initiatives is to give back to the communities in which we live and work, and we believe strongly in the mission and work of Metropolitan Ministries,” said Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Properties Group Broker/Owner Dewey Mitchell. “Each year, we aim to donate and raise as many funds as possible for these amazing families. We feel honored to be partnered with Metropolitan Ministries and work alongside them to help as much as possible.”

The Cabernet Sleigh consists of Owners Allen Crumbley and Dewey Mitchell and some other elves (staff members) driving a U-Haul truck to every office in the tri-county area and picking up the toys & food that have been collected over the past few months. The Sleigh made two stops to drop off- one at Generations Church, where Metropolitan Ministries was collecting in Trinity, FL, and one at the holiday tent at the downtown Tampa location. Our outstanding agents, staff, and supportive community came together and showed up! 5,500 lbs of food, five bikes, 1,967 toys, & $1910 in gift cards & cash were all donated to Metropolitan Ministries.

We want to thank everyone who participated in our 7th annual Cabernet Sleigh; our agents and staff went above and beyond, per usual! Our BHHS FLPG tribe never fails to put others first, and we are grateful for it.
