Meet MJ Frierdich, part real estate veteran, part team builder, part “foster failure”, and full-time Highlands County enthusiast. As the Market President of the Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Properties Group Highlands County offices, MJ brings a career's worth of diverse experience and a genuine passion for people, places, and growth.
MJ's professional journey reads like a masterclass in reinvention. It began in retail management, including a stint as assistant manager at a major flagship store in Chicago, before pivoting to real estate, where he built a strong foundation in new construction sales. When the market shifted, so did MJ. He rose to branch manager at a credit union, earned a mortgage license, and eventually found his calling in association leadership. Over 13 years across the Greater Fort Lauderdale Board of Realtors and Beaches MLS, he served as Assistant Director of Membership, grew a commercial membership division from the ground up, and collected numerous awards along the way. Through every chapter, one thing remained constant: his ability to build strong, cohesive teams and lead by example.
Real estate truly runs in MJ's blood. His sister is a Realtor and his aunt owns a franchise brokerage. So, when the opportunity to lead in Highlands County came knocking (introduced by the remarkable agent Helen Ferry, whose professionalism left a lasting impression), MJ didn't just answer the door, he walked right in and started planning the housewarming.
An HGTV Home Town Takeover segment spotlighting Sebring's makeover is what first drew MJ to the area, and the small-town charm did the rest! He now calls Lake Sebring home, where he lives with his spouse — a video professional and podcaster with an NBC News background — his beloved mother (who has excellent taste in martinis), and their nine cats.
When he's not cultivating his next real estate team or helping his spouse with their organic garden, you'll find MJ exploring the local restaurant scene or attending one of the town's vibrant festivals. He's genuinely excited about Highlands County's development momentum and is committed to building a family-like team culture that reflects the warmth of the community he's proud to now call home.
Fun Facts:
He's a proud "Foster Failure." MJ set out to foster a litter of five Black Bombay kittens from the shelter and, well, never quite gave them back.
He's half of a true power couple. MJ and his spouse both worked at Beaches MLS, which means real estate expertise runs deep in this household.
Blame it on HGTV! It was HGTV's "Home Town Takeover" that first put Sebring on MJ's radar. One visit was all it took. He fell for the small-town charm and eventually packed up and moved right in.
